This V6 engine allows the Edge to tow upwards of 3,500 pounds! All-wheel drive is available in both models but while it's standard on the Ford Edge, its optional on the Ford Explorer.

In terms of fuel economy, the new Ford Explorer edges out the Ford Edge by offering an estimated 27 miles per gallon in the city. The Ford Edge only offers an estimated 21 miles. For highway driving both vehicles are projected to get the same gas mileage at 29 mpg.

Those near Harrisburg SD, who are looking for a powerful SUV the Ford Edge is a great choice. For a more fuel efficient crossover, the Ford Explorer is the better fit.

Feature Highlights

While both these SUVs are midsize models, the Ford Explorer comes with three rows of seating, instead of the standard two found on the Edge. This added seating allows the Explorer to seat up to seven occupants.

In terms of interior space, both vehicles are almost identical. The differences lie in the room for front and rear passengers. In the front the Explorer offers slightly more leg room with 43 inches compared to the Edge's 42.6. But the Edge has more rear passenger leg room at 40.6 inches, compared to the 39 inches found in the Explorer.

And, when it comes to cargo space, the Ford Edge comes out on top by providing 39.2 cubic feet of space. Whereas the Explorer only provides 18.2 cubic feet of space.

Technology

In the Ford Explorer, Tea, SD drivers will find features such as Massaging front seats, a Navigation system with voice control, Paddle shifters, and more. These features will help elevate a standard drive into a luxurious experience.

For you audiophiles out there, each vehicle comes with a premium audio system. While each vehicle can come with an amazing 12-speakers, the Ford Explorer does allow for a 14-speaker system at its highest trim.
